Fort Lowell Day celebrates the Fort Lowell Neighborhood, Fort Lowell’s history, and the history of the area those two now encompass.
Schedule:
11 am-3 pm Children’s Activities at the Fort Lowell Museum
11-11:45 am: 4th Cavalry Band Performance
12-12:30 pm: Flag Raising Ceremony
12-2 pm: Trio Gala Mariachis Performance along Fort Lowell Road
12:30-1:30 pm: Tour of the Officers’ Quarters
12:30-1:30 pm: Way Out West Band at San Pedro Chapel
2-3 pm: Way Out West Band at San Pedro Chapel
2:30-3 pm: Cavalry Drills
3-3:30 pm: Cannon demonstration
Other activities include:
**Self-guided walking tours of the historic district
**Lectures and presentations on the cultural significance of Old Fort Lowell and its role in the development of the Southwest
**Displays by the Civil War Roundtable, Buffalo Soldiers, 3rd US Artillery, Fort Lowell civilians and ranchers, Fort Lowell quartermaster, a faro dealer, and the Fort Lowell Cavalry.
**Music by the Regimental Band, Mariachis, and Way Out West throughout the event
**Free admission to Fort Lowell Museum, which will offer docent tours of the museum
**Re-enactors at hospital site and the Fort Lowell Museum
**Children’s activities, including panning for “precious metals”
**San Pedro Chapel open with activities for all.
